PJ Hyland was one of the dedicated Maroubra crew who would regularly make the  journey to Cronulla to take advantage of the ramp like bowls that Suckrock was renown for.  Photo Stroh 1990.

In the 80′s Maroubra was a strong hold of bodyboard talent. It was one of the first areas in Aus. to take to the sport in a big way. Evan Penglis, Ross Hawke, Bob Bell, Steve Mackenzie and PJ Hyland pictured below were totally dominating the local contest scene in the very early days  in OZ .

In the early 90′s John Holmes created Paipo Bodyboards and PJ Hyland was there star attraction. This is the first poster that accompanied the boards and PJ model. The name was later changed to Rheopaipo  (Rheo meaning one) after a copyright issue. Photos by Stroh

Maroubra standout of the early 90′s PJ Hyland was the first bodyboarder to be sponsored by Paipo. Due to legal matters the name was changed and extended to Rheopaipo, Rheo meaning number 1. This advertisement pic was shot at Suckrock where PJ excelled. Photo Stroh
