Aka from Sandy Beach on the South Shore of Oahu in the early 90′s reputation spread quickly world wide earning him a reputation as one of Roachs main rivals for the title of the sports top Dropknee rider. This pic taken by Bielmann in the mid 90′s when Aka rode for Californian based Toys Bodyboards

Hawaiian Aka Lyman blitzed at Sandy Beach on the Southshore to Rocky Point on the Northshore and everything in between Aka was deadly on the knee, one of the all time best.

What set Aka apart from most other Dropknee riders was his ability to ride backside . Growing up surfing at Sandy Beach on the South Shore of Oahu, Aka developed equally his forehand and backhand skills and was regarded throughout the 90′s as the most stylish all round DK rider photo Hank
