Youngy Dougy Robson from Cronulla originally rode a standup before the older Cronulla crew like the Hulme Bros convinced him to ride a Boogie at The Patch. Doug liked it that much he never went back and throughout the late 80′s became the main man to beat in Aussie comps. This Dougy Robson Island shot was used in a Morey Boogie advertisement that came out in ’88.  Dougs profile was on the rise due to his rushing the Islands warping barrels, he was the most talked about rider in Australia around this time. photo by Greg Button.

When this profile of Doug Robson appeared in Waves in the late ’80s it blew minds. The free-fall was state of the art and at the time Doug was on fire. Dougy was Australias next big thing and was pushing the limits with his charging and airs. Doug’s career a few years later was cut short when he broke his back at his beloved Shark Island in a back slamming wipeout on the reef.
