Brazillian Jefferson Anute was a top contest performer in the late 90′s. Inspired by Tamega, Anute was a regular finalist on the Pro tour. He had a strong bag of tricks and was extremely versatile handling solid waves in Hawaii to ripping in gutless comp slop. Pic was taken at OTW by Stroh. Here’s a clip of Jefferson in action.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC4sjZyHicQ

David Legleye was a French bodyboarder who was part of the world tour throughout the late 90′s. He was a friendly and carefree soul who lived to get tubed. Unfortunately in 2001 along with fellow Frenchman/ Tahitian, Matt Walbrou the pair were killed in a car crash returning from a contest. He will be missed but never forgotten. The Forgiven bodyboarding video was the work of Brian Stokes who was the cameraman behind the No Friends videos. This was Stokers own project using left over footage and it was a totally different style and attitude behind the vid than the more well known NF offerings. A born again Christian, Stoker used a thrash metal heavy punk style soundtrack. At the time the video was not a commercial success but it was  a personal statement about Brian’s views on life and the movie he says he always wanted to make.

Ryan Hardy’s win in the 2006  Shark Island Challenge was epic. The last heats were held right on sunset with a mean and  heavy growing swell. By the end of the final hooter the boys paddled in under darkness. The waves were going off for the final heats and Hardballs win was well deserved after he powered through some heavy pits. Below a popular winner, Hardy reaps the rewards pic by Stroh
