Bodyboarding Magazine October issue 2000 celebrates Ryan Hardy winning the awesome first Tahiti Skins contest at Teahupoo with a epic shot on the cover. Hardy’s win that day is still regarded as one of the most epic victories and performance surfing the sport has ever seen. Paul Roach many believe is a freak when it comes to riding Dropknee. Speed , power and style make up the basic formula to his riding but there’s also his spontaneity. You just never knew what this dropknee lord would do next on a wave. From Manta adv early 2000 photo Jack English.

Guilerme Tamega from Brazil has notched up an impressive contest portfolio. 6 times World Tour Champ, 3 times Shark Island champion and countless other titles since he first began competing in the late 80s. Since those early days Tamega along with Mike Stewart together are the most dominant competitive riders the sport has seen to date and both are still competing on the World circuit even today. South African Alistair Taylor took one of the heaviest wipeouts ever seen at The Island when he took off on this warping beast and ran out of water and hit the reef. A trip to the hospital later Alistair shaken up and twisted out of shape lived to surf another day. Early 2000 photo Stroh

The original ” Boogieman” Daniel Kaimi was the first prone rider to grab the worlds attention with his go for it approach in Hawaii,captured at Backdoor early 80′s by Vince Cavitao.
