Maroubra bodyboarder Ross Hawke one of the sports first Pro riders would take a hike up the coast a few miles to Tamarama when conditions were right and usually score quality waves. This lip blast on his Manta model was taken around 1990 by Chris Stroh.

Before bodyboards there were Surf-O-Planes at every city beach in Aus. When the surfmat then Boogie appeared they disappeared. Heres a pic of some early 60′s kids having fun.

K Bay is sacred ground for Steve “Bullet” Mackenzie and many of the Eastern Suburbs early pioneers of Aussie bodyboarding. The natural wedging waves are ideal for getting barreled and launching from. This pic of young Bullet was taken around 1990 carving a chunk out of a K Bay face, photo Stroh
