Californian wildman Chad Barba grew a passion for charging  monster swells while growing up on a healthy diet of ocean madness at the infamous Newport Wedge. In the early 90′s Barba was one of the Wedge standouts pulling in, launching big and taking severe poundings at one of the heaviest bodyboard waves on the  planet.

Chad Barba became well known in bodyboarding media after his camera helmet footage in the early 90′s film “Bodyboarding Enough Said” blew many minds. After a while he grew tired of the whole Boogie scene, dropped out of the spotlight went underground with occasional sightings every now and then in remote places. These pics are proof the low profile Barba now looking a bit like Neptune  is out there somewhere.

BB Life magazine from Japan was big throughout the 90′s. This 94/ 95 issue features Chad Babar on the cover. Written in Japanese the front cover is actually the back cover and you read the mag in reverse.

When Scotty Carters break through video The Inside came out in the mid 90′s it featured the mysterious Chad Barba the Californian underground soul man at his peak surfing The Wedge, south of the border in Mexico and other mysto spots.
