Tow-in bodyboarding began to gain popularity among the elite of bodyboardings most adventurous around the start of 2000.It began around the same time that Mike Stewart towed in at Jaws then Teahupoo. It then  found its way to West Oz where riders like Chad Jackson, Sean Virtue, Brad Jackson and  mates began taking on Cyclops and other offshore reefs of mutant size and proportions. This shot of Chad is from a Turbo poster shows just what is possible and how far big wave riding has come.

From West Oz ,Chad first began making a name for himself through Chris White’s Tension videos in the late 90′s. Since those days of madness and slapstick humour Chad has stepped up to another level. The West Oz prankster began charging some of the most mutant and life threatening outer reefs on this planet. Scoring some of the biggest waves ever ridden by  bodyboarders. The pic below taken at Pipe in early 2000′s caught Chad mid flight a second or two before he copped a brutal pounding resulting in a stuffed back and months of recuperation.Photo Stroh
