After Ben Severson left his longtime board sponsor BZ in the latter 90′s he created his own label using the same design theories  and hard earned knowledge he crafted the very popular Ben Board with. Ben Severson Designs were started in Hawaii and continue today producing quality hardware for serious bodyboarders. Below 3 of the first Aussie manufactured BSD boards.Photo Stroh

In the early 80′s Ben Severson rode for Morey Boogie Bodyboards and this freefall pic riding the new Mach 77 was on the back of the Morey Boogie catalogue. Ben was one of the first members of the Morey Team along with Mike Stewart, Jay Reale and Keith Sasaki.

Sevo the 1986 World Champ was Mike Stewarts main competitive rival throughout the 80′s. Contest after the contest the pair would meet up in the finals with Ben ending up second more times than he would like to remember. Sevo also was known for his deep tube riding skills earning the knickname Troll. Ben is also credited with designing the round rail and one of the first to combine his manouevres. With BZ ,his model was at the forefront of design in the 80′s. Today Sevo is a lifeguard in Hawaii and still runs his BSD Bodyboard Company producing hardcore equipment and bodyboardso.
